claws of fame
Andy Warhol predicted that we would all experience 15 minutes of fame
and it would appear that some four-legged stars and starlets are grabbing the limelight
for themselves
these days not content with being a mere celebrity accessory. That's why we've
created our very own Celebrity Dogs - Claws of Fame...
Good news for Ratty, the Terrier featured in our Claws of Fame - he's been "spotted" by a Japanese TV crew who travelled all the way from Japan to York in the UK to follow Ratty's antics and bring his story back to Japan! Well done Ratty, you've well and truly marked your territory now.
BARNEY - Doberman
Well who could resist the scent of a teddy bear not to mention the scent of an entire collection of rare teddy bears which included one owned by none other than Elvis Presley. Well, Barney, the Doberman certainly couldn't and scoffed the famous Teddy at a museum in London last year. Barney ...."You ain't nothing but a hound dog......" but we love you and you and we now have pride of place in our claws of fame.
CHALKY - Jack Russell
Well you asked and your wish is our command. "Chalky" the loveable Jack Russell and hard-working side kick to Rick Stein one of the UK's favourite Celebrity Chefs now joins our "Claws of Fame" for his
contribution, above and beyond his claws of duty, to the culinary expertise of the nation. Chalky who sadly passed away earlier this year will be sadly missed for his antics on Rick Stein's BBC show.
LEYA - Yorkshire Terrier
Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho's pet Yorkshire Terrier - Leya - had the
authorities in a right flap
recently when she reportedly went "on the run". Leya had allegedly been brought
into Britain from
Portugal under a breach of an anti-rabies law and when the authorities turned up
at Mr Mourinho's home
to locate the pooch, it was suggested she had run off causing a police hunt, a
media frenzy ensuring
her 15 minutes of stardom and a place in our Claws of fame! It was later
discovered that Leya
was safely tucked up all along in her designer basket in Portugal. Ahhh!
BUSTER - Staffordshire Bull Terrier (cross-breed)
Buster; confident to Rt Hon Roy Hattersley MP hit the headlines in 1996 after
an altercation with
one of the Queen's geese! Since then he has embraced his celebrity status by
divulging a "warts and all" account of his life with an MP and that notorious
day with
the goose, in his published diaries. With his life in print selling by the
bowl-full, Buster
really is a true celebrity dog!
BUSTER ELVIS SAVAGE - Shih-Tzu
What more proof of his celebrity status does a dog need when he becomes one
of the country's first four-legged chat show hosts. Paul O'Grady is aided and
abetted by his furry co-host Buster Elvis Savage, on his daily tea-time chat
show
for Channel 4. Now he really is the cat that got the cream.
RATTY - Terrier
His fame may not be global but we believe Ratty's tenacity and sheer single-mindedness make him worthy of a place in our Claws of Fame. Ratty shot to
fame in Yorkshire in November 06 as the lone terrier who boarded the No 10 bus
in
York twice a week to frequent his favourite watering hole. When the pub was
sold and pets were barred Ratty did not despair. Instead he trotted off to the
pub up t'road and his antics have gained him celebrity status and an
unwavering
glare from the local paparazzi.
SNOWY (Milou) - Wire-haired Fox Terrier
Snowy the cute and courageous side-kick to TinTin first appeared in comic books
around 1929
and thanks to Steven Spielberg is destined to make an iminent come-back on the
big screen.
Snowy may not be real but his longevity earns him a place in our Claws of Fame.
